Many stories. One frame. A multiverse illustrated, where every object holds a narrative waiting to be discovered.
Melodrama in the Multiverse by Gokul Nair is a collection of short stories, each unfolding in its own distinct universe.
We were tasked with designing the illustrated book cover, approaching it as a layered composition rather than a singular visual idea. Every object and element on the cover is inspired by motifs, symbols, and moments drawn from the individual short stories. Together, these elements coexist within one frame, echoing the idea of a multiverse, different narratives, emotions, and realities intersecting.
The illustrated style allows the cover to feel expressive and imaginative, inviting readers to pause, observe, and decode. Instead of revealing one story, the cover hints at many, offering glimpses rather than explanations. It becomes a visual prelude to the book itself, where each element carries meaning, memory, and narrative weight.
